Around twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Hailstones and Extensive Damage

Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the widespread outages.

State Emergency Services received over five hundred calls for help across the region, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
